I’ve been inspired lately when it comes to portraits. Families, babies, bellies, couples. I’ve had some great subjects lately and I’ve been re thinking my relationship with portrait photography.
When I started out, I thought of portraits as still. Isolated in a studio. Limited by my direction.
Now that I’ve photographed & seen my friends go through so many stages in their lives, I’m realizing more and more the importance of capturing a time rather than just a face or a pose.
To remember not only the child’s face but the toys in the room, the hand painting, the home and how it felt. How it was to be there.
The other day, I spent the afternoon with Alexandria, her mom and grandma.
That was the day that Alexandria experienced sand for the first time and I was there to capture it for her.
